RESOLUTION |
RESOLUTION OF
THE NAPA SOLANO CHAPTER,
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS,
CHANGING ITS NAME TO NAPA SOLANO CHAPTER,
INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Napa Solano Chapter was established
January 3, 2025 as a chapter of the International Conference of Building
Officials (ICBO), and
WHEREAS, the Napa Solano Chapter of ICBO was formed to
support and further the mission and goals of its parent organization, ICBO, and
WHEREAS, in 1994, the three model code organizations
in the United States, the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO),
the Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA), and the Southern
Building Code Congress International (SBCCI) created the International Code
Council (ICC) to develop a single set of comprehensive and coordinated model
construction codes, and
WHEREAS, the Napa Solano Chapter of ICBO has been
actively involved in the ICC code development and code adoption process, and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 2003, the three model code
organizations, BOCA, ICBO, and SBCCI, consolidated into one organization, the
International Code Council (ICC), and
WHEREAS, this consolidation will enhance member
services, increase uniformity and consistency in code interpretations, and
improve public safety through the development and maintenance of a single set of
comprehensive and coordinated model construction codes that can be used
throughout the United States of America and around the world, and
WHEREAS, the City and County Building Officials, of
the jurisdictions represented by the Napa Solano Chapter responsible for health and
public safety in the building environment within their respective jurisdictions,
supported the consolidation of the three model code organizations into the ICC.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the voting
members of the Napa Solano Chapter, assembled February 5, 2003, voted
unanimously to change the Chapter name to: Napa Solano Chapter of the
International Code Council; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Napa Solano Chapter
of ICC, will magnify its efforts at the State level to convince the
California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) to adopt an updated and
coordinated set of codes that can help safeguard the inhabitants of California,
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Napa Solano Chapter of ICC, requests the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) and Governor Davis to ensure the timely adoption of an updated and coordinated set of building construction codes consistent with the recommendations made by the California Building Officials (CALBO) and by the Building Officials throughout California, who, for decades, have been responsible for the development, maintenance, and enforcement of the Building Construction Codes used in this State.
