Course Descriptions:

California Residential Code - This full-day course examines critical concepts of the building provisions located in the 2010 CRC. It provides a basis for the correct use and application of the code and builds on an understanding of the intent of the code through practice with real-world examples. This course will also explore the California specific amendments of the CRC and will highlight the needed information every building department in California will need to know to begin enforcing the CRC. Upon completion, participants will be better able to:

  1. Explain the intent behind the building provisions requirements.
  2. Locate general topics and applicable tables.
  3. Define terms essential for correct code interpretation.
  4. Identify the code that relates to specific building provisions.

This course is applicable for all building inspectors, plans examiners, building officials, fire officials, designers and contractors.

California Green Building Standards Code - This full-day class will introduce participants to the recently adopted 2010 California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen), now Part 11 of CCR Title 24, which will become effective on January 1, 2011. The class will:

CREDITS: A certificate of continuing education will be provided at the conclusion of class. 

SPEAKER: Jay Salazar, Instructor Emeritus for the Napa Solano Chapter

Jay Salazar has taught junior college courses in Plan Review, Inspection, Structural Design, Land Development and Materials of Construction. He has developmed and taught numerous courses for the CALBO Training Institute. Jay has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (CSU Long Beach 1985), and Masters of Public Administration (University of San Francisco, 1993), is licensed as a Civil Engineer in California and is CASP certified.  He is a recipient of Special Congressional Recognition (2005) for his work in his community and CALBO Training Institute Educator of the Year Award (2007) and Course Development Award (2010).   He currently serves on the CALBO Board of Directors and is Building Official for the City of Vacaville.

PARKING: There is parking available on the adjoining street or in the Government Center Parking Garage located on the corner of Union and Delaware. Once you have registered at the door, a parking pass will be available for those that wish to park on the 1st or 2nd floors of the Parking Garage.

TIME: Registration begins at 8:00 am; the Seminar will start at 8:30am and end by 5pm.

                                                                           Non-Members $150
