California Plumbing & Mechanical Code Updates – This is a half-day UPDATE class that will cover the many changes from the previous 2007 edition of the Plumbing and Mechanical Codes to the new 2010 Codes. The class will be beneficial for Architects, Designers, Plans Examiners, Inspectors, Contractors and those that work in the trades involved in plumbing and mechanical fields. Please bring your 2010 Plumbing and Mechanical Code with you if you have them. The class includes discussion and student participation through questions and answers, as well as student input and code-related discussion of frequent code related issues.
SPEAKER: Nancy Springer
Nancy is currently the Building Official Assistant/Acting Building Division Manager for Butte County and has over twenty-five years of construction experience in Code Compliance Building & Safety within both Public and Private Agencies.
Prior to graduating from the Butte College Building Inspection Technology (BIT) program in 1989 she worked as an electrician in the Sacramento Valley area. She holds many International Code Council (ICC) credentials. She is an active member of ICC serving on two ICC committees; the Education Committee, 2006 -2010 and currently the Exam Development Committee, a joint committee with the California Building Officials (CALBO). Nancy has been involved with creating new certification exams for the 2010 California Green Building Code (currently holding the CAL Green Inspector & Plans Examiner) and updating current exams for Building Inspection and Plan Check certifications.
Nancy is a current member of the California Building Officials (CALBO) and has served on their Legislation Committee, and Post Disaster Committee. Nancy is a current director on the board of directors for the Sacramento Valley Association of Building Officials and has been an active member of the Sacramento Valley Association of Building Officials (SVABO) for over thirteen plus years. She has served as their Education Committee chair twice in her thirteen years of membership.
CREDITS: A certificate of continuing education will be provided at the conclusion of class.
TIME: Registration begins at 8:00 am; the Seminar will start at 8:30am and end 12:00 noon.
LOCATION: Kennedy Park - 2296 Streblow Drive, Napa, CA. There is parking available adjacent to the building.

California Disabled Access Codes and the ADA Presented by: Daniel F. Kaiser Date: Location: Solano County Event Center (Old Library Building) 601 Texas St, Room A Fairfield, CA |
This course is designed to assist the experienced user of disability access requirements gain an advanced understanding of the integration of the various codes, regulations and laws governing access in the State of California.
This course has integrated the accessibility requirements (multi-family & non-residential) of the 2010 California Building Code, Chapter 11A & 11B; the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessible Guidelines (ADAAG), as revised in 1994; and the ABA, FHA and Universal Design requirements. The course will cover the scoping and technical requirements for Title II and Title III facilities, and common applications within these facilities and sites. The instructor will work with attendees to clarify all aspects of state and federal accessibility provisions.
Upon completion, participants will:
- Understand the applicability of the ABA
- Understand the applicability of the FHA
- Gain an understanding of the Universal Design requirements under H&S 17959
CREDITS: This course is approved for AIA learning units and will apply for time toward the new mandatory continuing education courses on accessibility requirements.
A certificate of continuing education will be provided at the conclusion of class.
SPEAKER: Dan Kaiser (CASp 039), a retired Building Official, is currently the owner of a private consulting firm, Access Services, Plus, specializing in disabled access compliance, training and education. Over his career in public service he has served as a Department Director, Chief Building Official, Supervising Building Inspector, Combination Building Inspector, and Codes Enforcement Officer for a number of jurisdictions throughout Southern California. Dan is currently serving as a Commissioner on the California Building Officials Training Institute (C.T.I.), responsible for the statewide training needs in California. Dan is a recognized instructor for ICC, CALBO, AIA, CACEO, OES, and has taught at the college level in California. Dan currently holds 24 various certifications from a variety of organizations such as ICC, IAPMO, IFCI, NFPA, ACIA, AIA and the State of California.
LOCATION: Solano County Event Center, 601 Texas Street, Room B, Fairfield, CA (The Old County Library with the Statue of Chief Solano in the Front Yard)
TIME: Sign-in begins at 8:00 am; the Seminar will start at 8:30am and end by 5pm.
COST: Napa Solano ICC Members: $130; Non-Members $150
