SEMINAR:
This full day course will present a look into the various laws and regulations that drive the need for disabled access features outside of building walls, within the public right-of-way.

This course is applicable to Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Plans Examiners, and Inspectors that design, build, or inspect; public works projects, grading, walks and sidewalks, stairways, curb ramps and crosswalks, public transportation facilities, jurisdictionally owned facilities, recreational facilities, and parks.

Local jurisdictions are required under State and Federal laws to provide equal access to all, regardless of ability.  Many of the laws and regulations pertaining to the built environment are outside the purview of the local building department.  This course will address those requirements.

CREDITS:
Upon course completion a certificate of continuing education will be provided.
The course is presented by an AIA approved educational provider and complies with the SB 1608 continuing education requirements for California license renewal for architects and continuing education requirements for Jurisdictional Inspectors.

SPEAKER:
Dan Kaiser, a retired Building Official, is currently the owner of a private consulting firm, Access Services, Plus, specializing in Disabled Access compliance and Training and Education. Over his career in public service he has served as a Department Director, Chief Building Official, Supervising Building Inspector, Combination Building Inspector, and Codes Enforcement Officer for a number of jurisdictions throughout Southern California.
