DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n \nPREFERRED PROVIDER\nCOURSE NUMBER: TBD\nThe course is an 8-hour course with 0.8 CEU Hours \nTuesday\, October 10\, 2017 \nFULL DAY SEMINAR SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR: \n\nBuilding Officials\nInspectors\nPlan Reviewers\nDesign Professionals\nContractors\n\n\nThe course is designed to assist code users (Building Officials\, Plans Examiners\, Inspectors\, Design Professionals\, Contractors & others) in the importance and understanding of the methodology of scoping accessibility in the 2016 CBC. Upon completion participants will be better able to identify the requirements for all elements of accessibility; identify the applicability of design\, plan review and inspection requirements on accessibility; explain differences in scoping projects between current and previous code editions; identify key changes in accessibility and code requirements under the 2016 CBC.  This advanced course will involve hands on plan review and code application.  Each participant is required to bring with them Volume 1 of 2016 CBC. \nFlyer\n\n\nCREDITS: This course is approved for on-going education hours. A certificate of continuing education will be provided at the conclusion of class. \nSPEAKER: GARY LAYMAN is the Chief Building Official for the City of Oroville\, California and an ICC Certified Building Official and Certified Access Specialist (CASp) who has performed accessibility surveys and inspections both in California and Nevada since 1987. He has represented numerous clients in ADA accessibility litigation as an expert in both state and federal complaints. He currently serves as the Past President & Director of Professional Practice Standards for the Certified Accessibility Specialist Institute (CASI) and Chair of the CALBO Access Committee. For those eager to improve their skills in electrical grounding and bonding\, the 2014 Soares Seminar on Grounding and Bonding is the seminar to attend.  How and why certain rounding methods are used will be explained in a logical way. The accompanying text\, Soares Book on Grounding and Bonding\, is included in the cost of registration. He is an ICC Certified Building Official and\nCertified Access Specialist. Prior to his building inspection career\, he was an electrician and maintains his General Electrician Certification with the State of California. Mike served as the Vice Chair of the Plumbing\, Electrical\, Mechanical & Energy Code Advisory Committee for the 2016 Cycle of the Title 24 California Codes.
